One such crazy lady decided that sending these vendors to voice mail was not okay, as we asked her to after she announced the call. I will bend over backwards for anyone that works in this position and fills in for that position because they typically are really nice people and want to help out and get treated like crap. They tell you your packages have arrived, if there’s left over food from a client meeting. I love working with folks at the front desk. I guess that confirms I'm not cut out for sales. I understand that you have to cold call, but after 10 calls, multiple emails and messages and a direct confirmation from my that I am not interested in the services you are offering, why waste time to continue calling? They even followed up with an email asking me to contact them. I politely told them I wasn't interested and after they continued to persist I again politely told them I wasn't interested and hung up.Ī month passes and they call my cell phone, this time I didn't answer and they left a message stating "Hi, I'd still like you to call me back when you have some time" of course I didn't call them back and that was the last time they tried to reach out. Anyway, it was the person that had been trying to reach me on my office line. I know that they spoof to your local area code, but I do work with crews that aren't always saved in my number and since I was in the field I figured it could be someone that had a question for me. One day I was in the field and I got a call from a number in my area code. They didn't give a company name and they didn't give me any information. I had one vendor that called me and said "Hi, please call be back, I have a few things I want to discuss with you" and of course I didn't call them back. Now I'll only return your call if you leave a message AND give me a useful message. This was also my first job out of school and I didn't know any better. Back then I always answered my phone because usually someone needed something. Once they figured this out, they would try another number. Many years ago when vendors just had their DID or their main office line as the Caller ID, we created call rule that would start dialing their main office line, meaning, the sales person calling would shortly hear their own receptionist pick up the phone.
